Chapter 45 discusses the discouragement of Baruch when Jehoiakim burned the scroll he had written. God rebukes Baruch's attitude because Baruch was seeking great things for himself; the gift of staying alive was reward enough.

Chapter 46 opens the oracles of judgment upon the nations beginning with Egypt whose future will be bleak with a glimmer of hope in the future Christ to come.
