Jesus spoke two parables using the common Old Testament imagery of the messianic feast and wedding. In the first in Matthew 22, Jesus spoke of a king who invited everyone to a wedding feast. His servants were mistreated and killed and the invitation for blessing was shunned. In the second, from the Gospel of Luke, a certain man invited others to a feast but they offered excuses.
