Jeremiah presents the yoke of Babylon as the destiny awaiting the nations and Judah. Hananiah the false prophet contradicts the message and breaks the symbolic wooden yoke that Jeremiah wears. In response, God promises an iron yoke to replace it and death for Hananiah, who dies a mere two months after this flagrant disobedience and mockery of God's true prophet.
