God's people had forsaken the covenant; in order for God to be faithful, He had to reject them. Jeremiah should know this but struggles at times to comprehend it. God reminds him that if he cannot run with men, how much less could he run with horses? The idea being that Jeremiah does not see the whole picture; God does.
